WVU vs. Colorado: Are You Excited?
While sitting at my desk, pretending to work, I noticed that I am not that pumped about the game on Thursday. I always get excited for night games at Mountaineer Field but I just can't take Colorado seriously. What are your feelings...

Glad I'm not on the team...
because I would be overlooking this game.

Don't overlook this team
We should have beaten them in Boulder last year and they nailed us.
Any opponent you don’t respect, in terms of having a chance to win, will always bite you in the ass.

GET PUMPED SON!!
This is a chance to display our skillz in front of a national audience! I don’t care who we play, we could play Romney School of the Deaf and Blind for all i care. Let’s rip somebody’s head off!!
I hope i don’t have to mention the fact that we looked like a bunch of idiots last year in Boulder and Colorado didn’t feel sorry for us, they whipped our ass!
NOW LET’S GO!! get your head out of your ass and get fired up!
I expect to drop 50 on these chumps!
MOUNTAINEER PRIDE, FROM THE HEART!!!
Colorado is like Maryland
I just don’t care. This will offend many, but I would rather get things done around the house, work a few extra hours to get ahead for the week or stare at the section of carpeting in my living room that looks just a little faded. I’m a busy person and I’ll have this game on (because I can’t watch all games since we’re no longer on national TV every week), but it will definitely be muted w/ some good tunes jamming.
Unfortunately, this is how I feel for a majority of WVU’s schedule ever since VPI and Miami left for the ACC. I DO get excited for PITT, Cincy and maybe South Florida but to a whole different degree than in the past. You guys remember when we’d play VT or Miami at home during night? Electric…..Do you think we have any games like that anymore? I really don’t and unfortunately my excitement level is only raised by the prospects of us going undefeated, which is no longer a reality. I will still cheer us on but the excitement level just aint what it used to be.
Really??
Muted while listening to some “tunes” and getting things done around the house?? That explains a lot.
Look, I don’t get pumped up for as many games as I used to, mostly for the reasons you named. Cincy, USF, and (sometimes) Rutgers are all solid teams, but they don’t get your heart racing like Miami, VT and BC did. They just don’t have the name brand at this point. If you can’t get excited to play Pitt, regardless of the record, then you’re not a true fan. And I’m sure you’re busy, that’s fine, we can’t all be single and have 9-5(ish) jobs that allow us to watch games. But as long as I don’t have a serious prior commitment, I’m either at Mountaineer Field (like I will be tomorrow night) or plopped in front of a TV or at a local sports bar (Gresso’s in Cbus carries ALL televised WVU games, including the ESPN360 feed) watching every second of every WVU football and basketball game. I guess that’s typical of your bandwagon fan approach, though.

Now now
Let’s not get into name calling.
Just state your point and move on.

Geesh
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Just because I mute games doesn’t make me less of a fan. I don’t need to hear some announcer (like Craig Fowler who went to Colorado) broadcast games. I’m too good for that and prefer to listen to Coldplay during the Mountaineer games, and my wife likes this way of watching the games too :)
: )
“too good for that” (just a little rib at Country Roads…..no need for 35 posts killing me)…I get those regardless.
I think tomorrow I'll listen to....
the new Counting Crows release during the game.
I won't blame you for muting...
…but Counting Crows? You’re killing me. Just joking with ya. We all have our musical preferences and dislikes.
Their double CD
is really tight. I wouldn’t have thought so either until illegally downloading most of it.
Coldplay? Counting Crows?
Don’t get me wrong. Both good bands. But during a football game? I mean….not stuff that would get you pumped up , is it? Something like Clocks, or Fix You…wouldn’t that keep you somewhat isolated from the excitement of the game?
I agree to a certain extent.
I think the build up is different for me. Earlier today I was not really thinking about tomorrow night’s game. Now, however, I can feel the anticipation building inside me. Tomorrow morning I will be totally pumped for the game.
The reason the atmosphere at Mountaineer Field has changed is because of the opponents. We don’t have the “traditional” match-ups that people had grown accustom to. We built up hatred for those opponents and that fueld the cheering and excitement in the stadium.
Give it a few years and everything will be back to normal at Mountaineer Field. That is if fans can get over themselves and cheer for the Mountaineers.
Huggins says “fans should get excited to cheer on our boys and not come to cheer against who we are playing.”

Yeah, But...
…as we play them more, the memories will accrue and our feeling will change. Remember how it felt to beat Maryland after they had hammered us three straight? Remember how much we hated Syracuse, especially after Graves didn’t get ejected at Mountaineer Field. It’s been a while since we felt real passion about Syracuse…
…all it takes for a fan-base to really get engaged is a few fiercesome games. And I happen to think our conference is pretty good. Over time, these relationships will develop. If Kelly stays at Cincy, I expect to despise them in a few years.
Mark it on the boardddddddd
This is Brian Kelly’s last season at Cincy.
My problem..
Is that you seem to be saying that you won’t actually be watching the game. You will be doing other “stuff.” That is sad.
I think the football players would tell you that you are not living up to their expectations of what a good fan would do.

I must admit...
I do get REALLY excited for the BCS games we’ve played.
One more thing...
I will be VERY excited for LSU next 2 seasons.
If there is less excitement for this game than there should be...
..it’s Colorado’s fault. We’re 1-2, and everyone is expecting a beatdown. But this should be a very anticipated matchup. You’re playing a program from one of the top 2 conferences who, in the last 20 years, has won a NC, had a Heisman winner, several Top 10 finishes, etc. If Colorado was good and/or ranked (as they normally are, save for the Hawkins era), considering that CU and WVU may never play each other again (or for another 100 years), you people wouldn’t be vaccuming or listening to Nickleback during the game.
I agree.
I was excited about this matchup when the games were scheduled. I figured CU would be on the rise under Hawkins and that it would provide a good cross-country matchup. With the schedule you all have played so far, you should be 3-0, and there should be some decent buildup. But hey, it is what it is. Hopefully this won’t be the game you turn it around.

Me, Too....
I expected Hawkins to resurrect CU. I bet he wishes he had never left Boise…but I think that speaks to just how far it is from BCS to non-BCS. In a way, I am sort of hoping, as a couple of my other friends are, that Boise and Florida somehow meet in the NC…where Florida will win by 50, and all this bullshit about their relevance will disappear.
Yes, Boise beat Oklahoma, and Oregon twice. Three signature wins. But in each, there were arguments against. Oklahoma clearly thought it had been jobbed out of the title game. Say whay you will, but when bowl teams aren’t happy with the bowl they got, and are thinking about the bowl they should have had, they lose. Oregon, the first time, had just lost their version of Pat White. Oregon the second time, was in transition under a new coach.
I’ve gotten tangential here….but to return to the earlier point….I very much hope that WVU doesn’t take any team lightly. With the 85-25 rule, college ball has parity. And I think any BCS school can rise up and beat you if you aren’t focused.
Nickelback, ughhh?
Relax there BuffFan. #1, I’m not a Nickelback fan. #2, I exaggerate (getting work done, staring at carpet, etc.) to enhance a point of not looking forward to playing this school. No offense, but you’re team is dull…..Those who know me know I never “get work done”.
I'm excited
I would REALLY like WVU to thump someone, it’s been quite a while (like, a year), and I want JB to get his poise back and pick them apart.
I want receivers from the other team to DREAD crossing patterns behind our linebackers instead of feasting on poor coverage.
And if/when we have a decent lead, I want Devine and our fullback to get the ball repeatedly in handoffs.
I’ll be content with a win, but I’d really like a big win.
GO MOUNTAINEERS
I can't believe you guys....
you all dissapoint me. totally disrespect our team by saying you are not excited for this game. i guarantee you that everyone associated with our program is excited and pumped up. i guess that’s why you are…. nevermind. whatever.
columbus i expect it from, but everyone else, that’s a shame.
Hey Zeke
I’m saving my enthusiasm for next week when we head north and play Syracuse! (snicker, snicker, cough, fart, cough, hahahaha, tinkle, tinkle)
you're a trip...
i hope your lack of enthusiam is a cover for your extreme confidence in Billy Stewart (snicker, snicker, cough, fart, cough…etc..)
