More NYC Bowl Talk

Remember a few weeks ago when I extolled the virtues of a bowl game in Yankee Stadium? Evidently others are catching on to my genius. And who would these followers of greatness be? Big East officals with a progressive view of conference expansion and power? Noooo. A bowl game in Yankee Stadium would be too, what's the word I'm looking for, obvious! for men of their foresight. Turns out, officials from the Big Ten have met with Yankee Stadium reps in regard to hosting a bowl game there after the current four-year cycle runs out.
I mean, good grief, John Marinatto! Let's just give them Rutgers too and call it the end of the Big East. Although reports pose the possibility of matching up a Big Ten team against a Big East team (duh?), is it really too much to ask that our conference pursue the opportunity to host a bowl game in the nation's largest city that just happens to be at the heart of our geographic footprint?
Let's recap Mr. Marinatto's brief tenure in office:
July 1 - Takes over for long-time Commish Mike Tranghese.
Aug. 4 - Presides over Media Day after which no Big East teams were voted into the preseason top 25.
Aug. 18 - Attempts to strong-arm Gator Bowl into exclusive deal with Big East, subsequently losing out on Gator Bowl in favor of Champs Sports Bowl.
Aug. 19 - Squanders opportunity for Big East #3 team to play in Sun Bowl.
Aug. 26 - Allows defending conference champ to schedule trip to middling SEC school with no return game.
Sept. 3 - Allows Big Ten officials to meet with Yankee Stadium reps in talks for new NYC Bowl.
Did I miss anything here? Is there anything on that list that any of us couldn't have done a better job at? Look, Tranghese wasn't perfect, but overall he kept the conference afloat during unprecedented turmoil and ultimately oversaw the creation of the best basketball conference in the country. Thus far, John Marinatto's tenure is off to an EPIC FAIL.
