Schmitt Arrested, Gives New Meaning to Runaway Beer Truck

Everyone's favorite Mountaineer legend, Owen Schmitt, was sadly arrested last night on suspicion of drunk driving. The Seattle Times has the story:

Schmitt, 24, was pulled over by Black Diamond police around midnight for speeding. He was subsequently arrested for drunken driving after his blood-alcohol content was measured at .151 and .161, according to State Patrol records. The legal limit in Washington is .08.

...

"I sincerely apologize to the team, the NFL, the fans and my family and friends for my actions and my poor judgment," Schmitt said. "I fully understand the seriousness of this matter, and I am disappointed in myself. I am committed to earning back the trust of everyone affected."

Clocking in with a BAC at .151 and .161 you'd have to wonder how a man child like that could be so intoxicated the police would pull him over for suspicion of drunk driving. Then again, I guess even Chuck Norris has his bad nights.

It's truly a shame that his has happened but after giving the automatic athlete response after being arrested for this offense, I think all Mountaineer fans would like to believe he will take the steps to get this problem taken care and put behind him. Especially when he's the projected starter at fullback this season.

The Runaway Beer Truck miiiight not be the best name for him at the moment anymore but lets not that cloud our memories of the epic run he had in the Fiesta Bowl or anything else he did for WVU.

We're all pulling for you Owen.

Sweet

This is my favorite play of all-time. I have a poster of this run in my bedroom.

I still say....

That Fiesta Bowl ass-whooping was the biggest, most impressive win in WVU history. And remember, Slaton was really not even a part of it.

Disappointing

And yet, one of the better apologies I have heard after a DUI arrest.
