Michael Carter
THose are two huge LOIs. What’s the deal with Carter going Minnesota? Seems like quite a last minute switch.
Word on the street is...
that he was not happy with us signing Pat Miller. He wanted to the premiere CB in this class. I guess he did not want any competition.
We should wish him well and hope he does well. Too bad nobody will hear from him the next 4 years up in Minny.

Bill Stewart knows how to take a committment,he just doesn’t know how to hold a committement, and really that’s the most important part of the committment. The hold. Anyone can just take a committment.
took me a second...
..but then I remembered where I heard this before. Nice.
OH, I DON’T THINK YOU DO!!!!
Commits
Looks like today is that day when the guy in the basement is excited. That’s certainly good news that the QB who is supposed to be the next Pat White signed from FLA. We need less recruits from VA/DC/MD and more from western PA!
Everyone should get excited for today but keep it in perspective. This just means we have the potential to be great. These young kids need to develop and grow.
We could win a national championship by 13 points and you would be mad it wasn’t by 14. Will anything ever be good enough for you?

Absolutely incorrect.
I will be ELATED when we win a NC, no matter the score….Until then, of course you’re correct. Who in their right mind should be pleased until they win the pinnacle of their sport……Set your standards high, 5YS. Don’t be happy w/ 7-4 man. We CAN do better, and in this conference we should do better.
Not happy
If you don’t think I have high standards, you should see the women I take home on the weekends… Wait a second, bad example.
Nobody is “happy” with an 8-4 record season after season. But nobody should be ready to jump off a bridge or throw everything away after one 8-4 season.
Where is your outrage about how our basketball teams poor performance on the road and inconsistency?

Basketball team
5th year-are you being serious? You’re comparing the b-ball team, ranked to be 9th or 10th in conference, to an 8th ranked preseason football team going 8-4 in the 4th best BCS conference (behind SEC, Pac 10 and Big 12)? Really? Huh.
There is no comparison and the b-ball team will be right there at the end of the BEAST tourney in line for a possible NCAA berth. Have faith, man!
I was only making the comparison to show how your position on our football team has to come from some deep hatred of HCBS because it is not based in reality. We were not the 8th best football team in the nation before the season started and we were not the 9th best Big East basketball team before the season started. The “experts” were wrong on both counts but you would rather blast the football coaches every chance you get because they were wrong.
Its tiring
The basketball team will make the Tourny, no doubt. I may not have common sense but I have faith.

Western Pa.
Western Pa is Dave Johnson’s territory. I’m trying to figure out why he even gets a pay check.
WPA
Western PA’s recruits sucked this year. That’s where Pitt pulled the majority of their class from, and frankly, it wasn’t very good. Dave was largely responsible for bringing in Josh Jenkins last year, though, so I’ll credit him for that.
The staff is divided (in my mind) into “teachers” and “recruiters.” The “recruiters” are mainly Holliday, Beatty, Stew, and to an extent Kirlav and Galloway. The “teachers” are Mullen, Johnson, Casteel, Dunlap, and Lockwood. Yes, our O-line struggled last year, but you try taking a group of undersized kids who only knew how to zone block and try to make them understand REAL pass blocking and run blocking in one year. Get back to me at the end of the 2009 season and if we don’t see improvement, maybe I’ll be inclined to agree with you.
Kirlav
I am of the opinion that Kirlavich is the best position coach that we have. In my mind, he is the Trickett of D-Line. We aren’t the best D-Line out there, but he does more with less than anyone else. But you are correct, he is not a “teacher,” he is a mean SOB coach.
