The Shotgun/Throwdown: Monday (12/07/09) Edition
Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, WVU's best place for sports links, information and entertainment. Today we're being brought to you by Howling Monkey. Thanks to Mike for the suggestion.
Yes, I made it out of Jersey alive. It was cold and wet, but the win took the sting out of any discomfort. The Bacon Explosion was a success (although we didn't use the rub or BBQ sauce, just the meat) and I highly recommend trying it at least once. In all honesty though, the Rutgers people we tailgated in and around couldn't have been any nicer. I was, however, embarrassed by some of our fans at the game. Wow! That's all I'll say. Please, take at least a moment to remember those lost at Pearl Harbor on this day, 68 years ago. Keep the tips, suggestions and requests coming and I'll see you after the jump...

If any recruits have been reading my posts lately, I apologize for being negative, I am sure you have been hinging your decision to come to our great university based on a few blog posts that I made. Please excuse Columbus as well.
I was at the game Saturday too ’97 and I witnessed both fan bases behaving poorly, but I feel it was much worse 2 years ago. After the game began, Rutgers fans quickly realized that we own them, and shut their mouths, thennnn the Mountaineer fans began the taunting. Rutgers fans retaliated with some some unoriginal “Mountainqueer” “Broke Back Mountaineer” redundancy, which quickly fizzled out. The stadium was half full midway thru the 3rd, probably because it was cold as shit, but more so because their fans realized that they are and will always be our bitches. Does the sun ever shine in Jersey? Goddam it was cold.
Does anyone know off hand where Keith Tandy played high school ball? There were at least 20 members of his family at the game, and they were all funny as shit. I loves me some “The Tandy”.

Don't get me wrong
I witnessed poor behavior on both sides and most Mountaineer fans were great. As usual, it’s the handful of assholes, for lack of a better term, that just ruins it for the rest of us.
You should have hit me up via email and stopped by our tailgate.

I did see an incident from a Rutgers dickhead that was ridiculously funny. Every time a group of Mountaineer fans walked by, this one asshole Rutgers fan was swinging his umbrella to try to get them wetter than they already were. He did it to a Mountaineer fan that proceeded to grab the umbrella, he stuck the umbrella under this kids throat and said “if you swing this umbrella at another Mountaineer fan again I am going to stick it up your ass”. The kid looked like he just took a bite out of a shit sandwich. It was funnier in person, but just wanted to share.
Is that not one of the gayest places to tailgate ‘97? We paid $30 to taligate in a church parking lot, we got their about 8:30 and none of the lots close to the stadium were open yet. Did you have that same experience, I was shocked. I live in suburban Philly now, so I generally hit every Rutgers, UCONN, or Syracuse away game. Next time I’ll hit you up.

One of my best friends from my days in Motown lives in Trenton, so I try to make it up for the RU games every other year. Sounds like we may have parked in the same church lot, but my buddy’s bro-in-law has family with Scarlet Lot passes right next to the stadium, so we unloaded and trekked over there. We were kinda late getting started, so I didn’t see the delay in lot openings.

Tandy is from Kentucky
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.
