Two Players Ruled Ineligible For Bowl - WV MetroNews
Nate Sowers and Scooter Berry are academically ineligible for the Gator Bowl.
Berry addressed his situation Wednesday morning via Twitter, posting "I was ruled [ineligible] yesterday by the University, [my] GPA is good but since I didn't pass more than 2 classes in my major I'm not allowed to play."

Not good
It is a bitter end to disappointing season for Scooter. He played well when healthy and not suspended but we expected more. I hope everything comes together for him to have a great season in 2010.
Nate, terrible way to end your career.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

Tremendous Bummer...
…an ignominous end to both of their careers.
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.
Luckily berry is only a junior.

Good Point, Zip...
…it just seems like he ought to be a senior by now.
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.
unbelievable
I wonder what these two guys are studying? How hard is it to at least pass all your classes, especially if your GPA is supposedly good enough? That means you are smart enough…but probably too lazy.
It is very dissappointing. These are two guys who have faced and percevered through alot
of adversity on the field, position changes, greyshirts and 2nd billing to bigger names of high school teamates (Brandon Barrett or Jason gwaltney anyone?). No one could ever question there hard work or dedication on the field. But I guess that isn’t translate to the classroom. These are not the two guys I would have expected to let their teamates down.
Sowers was one of the best high school players i’ve seen in west Virginia. He was a bit like Jerry porter at wvu in that he lost a couple good years being shuffled between positions.
Fortunately berry will be back for year 14 next year. The last member of the 05 class.

Situation seems strange with Sowers
and vastly out of character. I don’t know the kid personally, but I do know members of his family and others that know him. I’m not going to speculate, but this just seems strange. Maybe the kid made a mistake. He’s a good kid, from a good family and I just hope it all works out for the best.
Exactly
my thought WVUIE97, Sowers is too good of a kid. This was kind of shocking to hear his name.
