"You go into different schools, people say things and they call. It’s amazing how many people know about me other than me. I know what jacket I’m wearing. It’s really kind of funny to me. People try and put two and two together and it doesn’t always equal four. I’m here until somebody tells me different. I hope that means I’m doing a good job. It’s like I tell the players, ‘The day I stop yelling at you is the day you need to start being worried.’ When people mention your name, you take it as, ‘hey I must be doing something right.’"
I no longer care about losing Doc. Just another guy who left his alma mater, and for the second time, in his case. Clearly, he doesn't bellieve patience is a virtue. But after reading the above quotes from Chris Beatty, and just those quotes, I sure hope we keep him. He sounds like the future, and one that I think I would like.

I agree
I liked Holliday, but Beatty is young and an up and comer. We need to pay him whatever it takes
Come on. He was offered a head coaching job. You expect him to stay at wvu and coach the all important tight ends? WVU is his Alma mater because he went there to become educated and acquire tools to become a head coach. But now he’s supposed to turn downthe opportunity to finally accomplish his goal? It’s not like he went to Pitt. Until they beat us, Marahall is not our rival.

I with you 25314
I don’t fault Doc for wanting a HC job. He’s made no secret that was his ultimate goal. there’s an article that briefly talked about Doc’s final departure from the puskar center where he addressed the team. He addressed the team and told them why he did what he did. That’s a class act…how many coaches do you know that have done that? Maybe he didn’t want the Mountaineer nation hating his existance like we do the product…or maybe he’s just a classy guy that knows he left the place he wanted to be most for a position he’s wanted his whole career.
I hope he does have success, I think he deserves it. I wish him success because I, too, do not feel Marshall is a rival. And God forbid, Marshall gets out of the cellar and we have 2 decent football schools in this state. If nothing else…Marshall could become successful again and drain less of the taxpayers money.
I'm not too worried...
…… about losing Doc, yes he brought in some great recruits but like in an article I read the other day. Pat White, Steve Slaton, Darius Reynaud, Owen Schmitt, Chris Henry, Pacman, and a lot of other good players were not recruited by Doc. The only play that he recruited that has seen any playing time is Robert Sands (who by the way is amazing), but I think we’ll be ok.

You may be looking at this the wrong way.
A number of people are looking at Doc leaving as a sign that he thinks our program sucks. I disagree with that opinion.
I take him leaving as a sign that our program is strong. He understands that he is not likely to get the job as head coach in the foreseeable future. He knows HCBS has the program going in the right direction and while he would love to be on the train, he wants his chance to lead a program down the same path.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.

I don’t think it’s a sign of anything other than doc wanted to be a head coach and was offered a head coaching job.

Let Doc Make His Rookie Mistakes at Marshall
I tend to look at HCBS on the positive side of neutral. One of the maddening things is that we have gone through (…I hope its over…) is his game day teething pains — like clock management. Maybe Doc will do well at Marshall and be ready for the big time when HCBS steps down.

Doc's Departure
Those like Columbus and such will say it’s the beginning of the end and that once again people see it’s all HCBS fault.
Some will say it’s the program getting stronger and showing stability and confidence, like 5YS states above.
All in all, it is what it is. He wanted to be a Head Coach, it’s why he got into coaching ( no one gets in to coaching with the expectation to be just an assistant) and he saw an opportunity and jumped on it. I wish him luck.
Now as for the recruiting, he might have been a top recruiter, but how much recruiting will he get to do once he dives into the job? I think you’ll see he won’t be pulling the talent some are worried he will.
As for poaching coaches, it comes down to money and opportunity for them. If they get the cash and can increase their duties, why wouldn’t they leave? Again, if they want to achieve their ultimate goal of being a head coach. I don’t fault any of them.

I Don't Fault Doc For Taking A HC Job...
…I just think he was in line to be the HC at WVU, and may still be a few years out! I just hope that Beatty stays in Morgantown…that was my main point.
Now is the time boys to make a big noise.
No matter what the people say,
For there is naught to fear, the gang's all here,
So hail West Virginia, hail.
I hope he does too.
Leave no doubt tonight! Leave no doubt tonight! No doubt! They shouldn't of played the Old Gold'n Blue.
