The Shotgun/Throwdown: Friday (10/9/09) Edition
Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown, Syracuse Pre-Game Edition. We're being brought to you today by Michelob Golden (is it even still available?).
It's Syracuse tomorrow people!!! I'm getting antsy already. This edition has gone full epic. We're talking Cecil B. DeMille epic. Dare I say it. Yes, we've gone to Plaid. Anybody traveling to the game, have a safe trip and scream your heads off for the Mountaineers. Trust me, I'll be screaming myself, if only at my TV. Tailgate Recipe of the Week:
Sausage-and-Pepper Heroes
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoon(s) extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for brushing
- 1 pound(s) red bell peppers, thinly sliced
- 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 clove(s) garlic, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon(s) dried oregano, crumbled
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) crushed red pepper
- Kosher salt
- 6 chicken sausages, about 5 ounces each, preferably with roasted pepper or parsley and cheese
- 3 long hero rolls, split lengthwise
Directions
Recipe and picture courtesy of Delish.com
- Heat a large cast-iron or nonstick griddle (you can also use 2 cast-iron or nonstick skillets). Add the oil, bell peppers, onion, garlic, oregano, and crushed red pepper and season with salt. Cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until the peppers are softened and just beginning to brown, 6 minutes. Push the vegetables to the back of the griddle, cover with an inverted heatproof bowl, and keep warm over low heat; stir occasionally as you cook the sausages.
- Prick the sausages with a knife and cook over moderate heat, turning occasionally, until no trace of pink remains, 10 minutes. Add the sausages to the vegetables and keep warm. Brush the rolls with oil and toast on the griddle. Fill the rolls with the sausages and peppers, cut each one in half, and serve.

Miss Throwdown:
I've been in love with today's Miss Throwdown from the first day I saw her on the silver screen. Her notable films include Pearl Harbor, Underworld and Van Helsing (not saying they are great movies, but she looks wonderful, as always, in them). She's recently been named Esquire Magazine's 2009 Sexiest Woman in the World. I'm not gonna argue with that. Each pic leads to a different gallery.

There's another video I wanted to embed, but that has been disabled. I will LINK TO IT INSTEAD. It's worth the click, trust me.

Good God.
Epic was definitely the right word.

Marvin Graves once gave Michelob Golden to an entire school of autistic children in Thailand while cruising Bangkok for an adolescent sex slave

First Marvin Graves, now this!!
Syracuse apparently has no shame and has activated Ogie Oglethorpe for tomorrow’s game after what can only be described as “a trying rookie season”! Check out the link!

I hate everything about Bill Stewart from him wearing sweatervests and long sleeves inside to his lying about injured players (where was Scooter?), going for it on fourth when we’re at the 35 (of course we punted), never abandoning our bread and butter zone plays (we ran it like twice with great success but kept going back to the I-formation which did not work at all), using a balanced attack (we either throw 10 striaght plays or run 10 straight plays).
That was a game we should have run away with, but of course we didn’t and lucked out that Syracuse can’t catch.
Kirlav told the team at halftime that even though we had a big lead to not let up because great teams go out back out and win by 60. Tood bad we’re not a great team. We’re not even close.

We played a complete game.
It just so happened that the game was over at halftime.

I don’t like how our coward coach turned a top 10 team into a top 40 team. Game 18 of the Stewart era and we’ve still yet to put together a complete game. But keep the excuses coming. It’s more enjoyable to low expectations met than be disapointed every week.

I just think some people have unrealistic expectations
The previous coaching regime had just as many squeakers and bad games. And so does every high profile program in the nation. Penn State didn’t put as many points on them as we did, and they were at home. It seems that some people won’t be satisfied unless we blow everyone out by 60. Just keep winning.

Oklahoma?
I thought 48-28 vs Oklahoma was pretty complete.
All you angry losers are only happy if we win 60-0. We beat a rebuilding but respectable conference team on the road by 21. Ask Auburn if they woudl take that.
