What drives me crazy the most about Travis is that on every and I mean "EVERY" 3rd down with about 33 seconds left on the play clock he says " it's 3rd down" not it's 3rd and 12 or 3rd and 3 just "it's 3rd down"... Please we all know what he is trying to do but fans are not going to scream for 20-30 seconds every time it's 3rd down. We need the noice for the important 3rd downs and so the visitors can't audible.. Please Travis if you read this I am not bashing you just tell us down and distance we will take care of the rest...

I have no clue who this guy is, but it is attitudes like this that contribute to the lack of atmosphere at Mountaineer Field. Every third down is important and if you do not understand this you should never be allowed inside Mountaineer Field again.

This PANDEMIC of lame WVU fan participation started while I was still there ( Class of ’07 ) and has since spread! 3rd and 3 is just as crucial as 3rd and 15. Some people have no idea how to get behind their team!

completely agree !!! Why should the yardage matter at all? Make as much noise as possible on every 3rd down. Currently, the noise level on every defensive play other than 3rd and 1 is pathetic. The defense feeds off energy from fans, we need to do our part. If you can talk after the game … you didn’t make enough noise!

the original commentary tried to say there was some distinction between 3rd and 3 and 3rd and 12. If it’s third down, it’s third down, PERIOD.
And SirChode is right too… DEFENSE (should) = CROWD NOISE.

Every 3rd down is crucial and I would venture to say that loud noise on 2nd and 1st downs wouldn’t hurt either. Throw in some yelling on 4th down for good measure. I’d love to see a blocked punt this season.

I think Smoking Musket should fund a forensic analysis of the post, identity the poster, obtain a DNA sample by whatever means are necessary, and permanently ban this loser from Mountaineer Field, nay, the state of WVa.

You guys are too quick to pile on…sure saying its third down is probably enough for many of you…but a lot of people really need to know what is really important.
I was thinking, maybe they could play some really cool catch phrase on the big jumbo tron…like john belushi or something really funny like Larry the Cable guy to get people really jacked up when it is really important.
