The Shotgun/Throwdown: Monday (10/19/09) Edition
Welcome, By-Godders, to the Shotgun/Throwdown. Today's edition is dedicated to Jasper Howard.
I honestly don't feel it would be right to have the usual extras today, in light of the tragedy in Connecticut. This will mean nothing to anyone who is directly involved, but today's post will just be the links. My thoughts and prayers are with Jasper Howard's family, friends, coaches and teammates.

and pay tribute to this young man at the stadium saturday…I would like to see our guys wearing his number on the back of their helmets and I hope there is a momnet of silence for him prior to the game.

Jasper Howard
Why?
Why can’t people just love one another?
I am ashamed to be of the human race.
My heart bleeds.

This really sucks
I got a text from someone saying that a UCONN cb had died and I was in total shock. It just goes to show you that life is short and make the best of it. I really hope that the Mountaineers do something for Jasper, his family, and the UCONN community.

West Virginia plans to honor Howard in some way as well on Saturday, coach Bill Stewart said. He will announce specifics on Tuesday. Stewart addressed the tragedy with his team at a meeting on Sunday afternoon.
“I opened up with the story,” Stewart said. “Our youngsters from the Miami area that knew him took it very, very hard. Our guys were quite shaken, as they should be. They really, really liked that young man.”
Edsall said he had heard from every head coach in the Big East in the past 24 hours and that he was grateful for the outpouring of support.
“It’s times like these when a close conference like the Big East needs to come together,” Rutgers coach Greg Schiano said.
