very good game, with a few things to work on:
KO coverage still shaky at times, 1 blown coverage, 1 fumble

We Rock!
The way I see it, we are right in the mix for the Big East BCS slot. The offense looked great, the Defense looked great, and the only weakness we have is kickoff coverage. Do we pick the eleven slowest guys to be on the kickoff team? It all comes down to the first guy down the field- if he sheds the block, we stop them at the 25-30. If he gets blown up, then we stop them at the 35-touchdown.
I have to say again though, the offesnse and defense rocks, and all other phases of special teams are solid to great!!!!

they looked great in the first half, but not the second…they have yet to put together a full four quarters this year…fumbles, turnovers, and poor special teams continue to plague the team.

I agree with your comment..too many mental errors, our secondary, I dont even know what to say other than they will get picked apart by Cincinnati, the kick coverage is still pissing me off and it was a win over Syracuse which isnt overly impressive. OTHER than that I’m happy!

Not surprised to see....
the “full of sunshine” commentary from the bloggers on this board….first half was most impressive half since Stewart took over…..everybody seemed to play w/ a sense of urgency, excellent execution, limited to’s.
2nd half was deplorable IMO against a horrendous football team (worst we’ll play excluding Louisville)…..to problems continue, special teams gaffes prevail…..these performance are just fine against teams w/ inferior talent levels but these issues WILL rear ugly head against the cream (ie. South Fla, Cincy)…..

3rd quarter I'll give you
but what do you expect from a bunch of 18-23 yr olds up 27-0 at halftime? And I mean expect, not desire. 4th quarter, we had at least 5 true freshman playing (most seeing their first significant PT).

We put this Syracuse team away early
the same team that gave USF and Penn State fits, even when they turned the ball over like crazy in those games.

Not surprised to see...
You criticize after a convincing win. As I have said before you would bitch after a national championship if we turned the ball over once.
Anyway, the first half we did not turn the ball over. That is not “limited turnovers,” that is NO turnovers.
We won the turnover battle.
I can’t even respond anymore because you know you are wrong on this one my friend.

A good game
With that first half, it was a pure joy to watch our offense literally clicking on all cylinders.
As for defense and the second half – is our secondary improving at all? Tandy is everywhere, but on those long passes he’s always a step behind, maybe he’s trying to do too much?
The Koz was awesome so even though we won’t win awards, I think our punt coverage is fine. Kickoff coverage is consistently really bad.
In the third quarter we sputtered on offense, thought we could have utilized Noel more effectively. I disagree on the “deplorable”, we had a couple of sustained drives, one with a TD.

Speaking of Koz
Why not have him kick off? He obviously has a stronger leg than Lider.

Kicking and punting are two different disciplines.
It might seem easy to think he could transition between both, but maybe he simply can’t kick.

Do you honestly think...
that the coaches have not tried that in practice?

He's what we have.
Bitching about it every week isn’t going to do anything.

Really? cause that’s the first time I’ve ever mentioned it.

Don't paint yourself as some kind of hero.
You’re not. Disagreeing with the direction of the program is one thing, trying to paint yourself as a martyr of football ideals is a complete other.
We went on the road and beat a team soundly. Sure, there were some mistakes, as there’s nearly always going to be. But to sit here, tell everyone the world’s falling, then feel sorry for yourself when people call you a douchebag is just plain sad.
Honestly, 25314, I am completely tired of this act. If you’re not going to be happy ever, go be miserable somewhere else. The rest of us would like to enjoy the win.

i was talking about lider and kozlowski. and you act like it was a dumb question which it isnt at all. then you call me a douchebag for having a different opinion which is pretty douchy. i’m critical of things the coaching staff does that i disagree with. i dont criticize any of yous peoples. i talk about football. and while you guys may disagree with me, 90% of america who has a unbiased perspective agrees with me. and its not like im inconsistent in my criticism. and i praise what i feel ought to be praised. like i did after the auburn game. have i not picked wvu to cover every week? so you can go have sexual relations with yourself.

This is where you're wrong:
i talk about football. and while you guys may disagree with me, 90% of america who has a unbiased perspective agrees with me.
The unbiased media used words like blowout, dominating, and emphatic to describe WVU’s win over Syracuse. Am I just, by chance, reading the 10% of America’s unbiased media that doesn’t agree with you?

Yeah, true.
Go read ESPN and College Football News, which are, IMO, the two most thorough sites. Both of those outlets treated the win like what it was: a blowout over a conference team on the road.

Yes it is a dumb question
You ask the question as if you are the only smart person to ever think of trying a new kicker.
If he proves it in practice HCBS will put him in. If you don’t thinlk stew can change his mind look at Sands starting this week. He finally practiced hard enough to earn the staring role.

Lider
Actually, it looks like he’s getting it to or past the 10 yard line every time, which is at least a 5 yard improvement.
