Old School

At this point in the day I am tired of working. So I did what I normally do. I surfed on over to a few select spots on the internet. During my navigation of BGN I came across a link to old pictures of Mountaineer sporting events and have been enthralled ever since. Here are some of my favorites followed by a link to a bunch of other photos.
Enjoy...

Intimate
Man, I remember going to games at the old Mountaineer Field and sitting underneath that press box. The damn thing always looked like it would just topple off and roll down onto the field. And on top of that there were always a bunch of crazies standing on top of it…no railing, no nothin’.
Those close quarters contributed to a more intimate atmosphere at the games. It may not have been louder than the current stadium, but it seemed like it. I remember students marching along the sideline with bedsheet signs and no one even bothering them….the entire student body throwing oranges at Syracuse as they ran onto the field. A great place.

great pics
I arrived in 1980, the first year of the new stadium, so these just barely exceed my recollections, but I enjoyed them all the same.
What year were we in the Liberty Bowl? That pic cracks me up, I bet you couldn’t seat more than 10,000 people in there!
